From the Mary Garden

For centuries Christians gave flowers the names of Our Lady. We keep that tradition alive and will gladly build a bouquet or altar piece from these blooms when they are in season.

Designed with the church year

Many churches follow the seasons of the Christian year, and dress the sanctuary for each one. We plan your flowers to be beautiful and fitting for your date and for your own church's customs.

How we work together

Most weddings are booked four to twelve months ahead. For funerals we respond within the day and handle the timing with the funeral home.

  1. Consultation

We meet in person or by phone to talk through your day, your church or venue, your colors and your budget.

  2. Design proposal

You receive a written proposal with the arrangements, flowers and a clear itemized price.

  3. Reserve your date

A signed proposal and deposit hold your date. We then source flowers for the week of your event.

  4. Delivery & setup

We deliver, place every arrangement at the church and venue, and collect rentals afterward.

“Whatever is true, whatever is lovely… think about these things.”Philippians 4:8

Our story

Mystical Rose is a family business run by Edith LaPlante with her husband, David. We are Roman Catholics, and our shop takes its name from one of the titles of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Litany of Loreto. We gladly serve families of every Christian church, and anyone who wants beautiful flowers for the great days of their lives.

Edith is a homeschooling mother of eleven. Her love of flowers grew out of a love of truly beautiful things, and of the conviction that beauty draws us toward God. That is why we care so much about the flowers placed on an altar, carried down an aisle, or laid on a casket.

We believe the great moments of a family's life deserve real beauty: a wedding, a funeral, a table set for the people you love. We would be honored to design for yours.

Questions families ask

If yours isn't here, ask it in the form below.

How far ahead should we book our wedding flowers?

Four to twelve months is ideal, especially for May through October Saturdays. We sometimes have room on shorter notice, so please ask.

Do we need to be Catholic to work with you?

Not at all. We are Catholic ourselves, and we gladly design for Protestant, Orthodox and nondenominational churches, chapels, and ceremonies outdoors or at home. Every family is welcome.

Can you work within our church's rules for altar flowers?

Yes. Many churches have guidelines about placement, the altar itself, and timing for delivery and removal. We confirm them with your church before the day.

What if our wedding falls during Lent?

In Catholic parishes the altar is not decorated with flowers during Lent, except on Laetare Sunday, solemnities and feasts. Other churches have their own customs. We focus on bridal and reception flowers, and suggest simple arrangements your church permits.

How quickly can you provide funeral flowers?

Contact us as soon as arrangements are set. We work with the funeral home on delivery times for the visitation, vigil or Rosary, and the funeral service.

Do you rent tableware and decor?

Yes. We rent charger plates, vases, flatware, glassware, wood slabs, candles and chair sashes. Ask about rentals when you request a consultation and we will include them in your proposal.

Do you donate arrangements to charity auctions?

We are glad to talk with churches, Christian schools and charitable organizations about auction lots and gala flowers.
